The CPI has demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged links between some BJP leaders and the mastermind of the fake drug manufacturing scam that had repercussions across the country.
In a statement, CPI State secretary A.M. Saleem pointed out that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which took over the investigation initially started by the CB-CID, had already unearthed evidence leading to the arrests of the kingpin and over 20 others.
However, the crucial aspect of the scam relating to the alleged distribution of company shares from influential persons was being glossed over in the probe so far, the CPI leader contended.
He alleged the involvement of several top BJP leaders at the State and the Centre, including a couple of Union Ministers, and called for a proper inquiry into the scam that would bring to book all those involved in it.
Mr. Saleem sought to know why, in spite of the magnitude of the scam, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, who also holds the health portfolio, chose to remain quiet.
