BRS exudes confidence in political resurgence after GP poll triumph

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao said that the revival of the party had begun with BRS-backed candidates winning in the Gram Panchayat elections in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, the very region where the party earlier faced a setback. He added that the party is poised for sweeping victories in all the upcoming elections.

Addressing a felicitation meeting for newly-elected Sarpanches in Bhuvanagiri on Thursday, Mr. Rao asserted that people are now realising the reality of Congress ‘misrule’ and extending decisive support to BRS.

“Despite Congress intimidation and misuse of power, people delivered a clear verdict in the Panchayat elections. BRS secured 161 Sarpanch seats across Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. This mandate has infused renewed confidence among party cadre across Telangana and marked the beginning of BRS’s return to its former glory,“ KTR said.

Responding to Assembly Speaker’s decision on MLAs’ defections, KTR said the Congress government has normalised defections as a survival tool, destroying democratic values.

Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the former minister said that the CM had made tall claims and failed to deliver them.

Meanwhile, BRS senior leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao said the Sarpanch election results clearly indicate Mr. Revanth Reddy’s declining popularity. He also claimed that people are revolting against the State government as it has failed to deliver on its six guarantees.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for BRS-backed Sarpanches in the Medak constituency, Mr. Rao said that the ruling party in any State normally secures 80 to 90 percent of Sarpanch seats. However, despite the Chief Minister personally campaigning and allegedly violating the election code, the Congress was restricted to less than 50 percent, while BRS-backed candidates secured over 40 percent of the seats. He added that the Chief Minister’s fear of BRS’s growing momentum would prevent him from conducting ZPTC and MPTC elections anytime soon.

Mr. Harish Rao further highlighted that the promise of 42% BC reservation remains unfulfilled, Rythu Bandhu has been stalled, and farm loan waivers have reached less than half of the intended beneficiaries.
