Unidentified burglars carried out a heist at Someshwara Jewellers in Dundigal in the early hours of Saturday, escaping with around 15.5 kg of silver ornaments.
According to police, the offenders drilled a hole through the wall of the shop to gain entry and looted the valuables before fleeing. The theft came to light later in the morning when the shop staff arrived for work.
Dundigal police, along with the Clues Team, inspected the premises and collected evidence. CCTV footage from the shop and nearby areas is being examined to trace the culprits.
A case has been registered and a special team has been formed to track down the offenders.
