Minister for Public Works and Tourism P.A. Mohamed Riyas will open ‘Felix Natalis’, a grand Christmas celebration with the parade of hundreds of participants dressed up as Santa Claus, in Kozhikode city on Sunday (December 28).
The Calicut Archdiocese is the organiser of the unique event, taking inspiration from the Thrissur Archdiocese’s annual ‘Boun Natale’ celebrations. Programme coordinators say the colourful procession will draw the participation of people from different religions.
Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal will flag off the grand procession from St. Joseph’s Church, Kozhikode, at 4 p.m. It will culminate near the Freedom Square on the Kozhikode beach.
According to organisers, cultural programmes by students’ groups will be one of the attractions of the public celebration in the city. Participants’ dress code matching the costumes of Santa Claus will also make it a unique display of harmony and love, they said.
