Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Friday inaugurated HANDTEX 2026, Co-optex’s Vetri Thari special sale and the commercial sales exhibition at the Kalaivanar Arangam to mark National Handloom Day. He also distributed financial assistance totalling ₹22.25 lakh to 11 weavers and presented certificates of appreciation, an official release said.
National Handloom Day is observed every year on August 7 to commemorate the launch of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905.
