The city police have arrested three persons accused of supplying narcotic drugs from Bengaluru to peddlers operating in Mangaluru.
The police identified the arrested persons as Ahmed Sabith, 35, of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru taluk of Dakshina Kannada; Mohammed Shamsheer, 26, of B.C. Road in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada ; and Naushina, 27, Sarapadi, in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada.
In a statement, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said the three suspected drug peddlers were allegedly supplying drugs from Bengaluru to peddlers operating in Mangaluru. In order to avoid detection of police, the accused were moving with a woman, who was among the three who have been arrested.
On specific information, the Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested the three persons on Saturday near Yashaswi Hall in Arukula. The police seized a total of 87.35 gm of MDMA and the car used by the accused. They were produced before the jurisdictional magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody, Mr. Reddy said.
Two arrested
The Bantwal Rural police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers in Thumbe village of Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada.
The police gave names of the accused as Sameer, 31, of Thumbe village, and Mohammed Asif, 35, a resident of Goodinabali village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada. The police seized 810 gm of cannabis, an autorickshaw and a car from the accused. They were arrested for offences punishable under Sections 8 (C) and 20 (B) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
