Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced in the Assembly institution of a CB-CID inquiry into all mining-related irregularities from June 2, 2014 to till date – March 28, 2026.
The inquiry was ordered following a demand from Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) T. Harish Rao for appointing a House Committee into the mining irregularities by Raghava Constructions, stating that it belonged to Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
The government – Minister for Mines and Geology G. Vivek and Minister for Industries and Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu – turned down the BRS demand and alleged that it was during the BRS rule from 2014 to 23 large scale irregularities had taken place in mining, particularly sand and granite. They offered to institute an inquiry into the mining irregularities from 2014 to till date.
However, it did not satisfy the BRS members and they went on slogan shouting demanding a House Committee on Raghava Constructions, for which the ministers said it was not possible to order either a probe or appoint House Committee against one particularly company, even when the next speaker, P. Harish Babu of BJP, on voting of demands for grants started participating in the general discussion.
The Chief Minister then entered the House and intervened to announce the CB-CID probe from 2014 to date, including sand mining by BRS leader J. Santosh Rao and his father Ravinder Rao at Nerella in Sircilla district in Sirisha Geo Granites, Shwetha Granites of former minister Gangula Kamalakar’s family, Gayathri Granites of BRS Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra, Midwest Granite of Mr. Harish Rao’s brother and others.
Further, the Chief Minister alleged that K.T. Rama Rao and Mr Harish Rao, who held the mining portfolio for 5 years each, had looted the mining department and siphoned off ₹1,000 crore in easy money every month through irregularities. It is during the Congress rule from December 2023 the mining department revenue had increased.
Turning to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s family, he said it was due to a dispute over sharing the properties between Mr. KTR and his sister K. Kavitha, which forced her out of the party and family.
