Collector unfurls national flag, takes part in gram sabha meeting

Virudhunagar Collector N.O. Sukhaputra unfurled the national flag and inspected the ceremonial parade presented by police and took salute on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day on Monday. The Collector also released tricolour balloons.

A total of 169 police personnel received Chief Minister’s Police medal from the Collector. Several Government officials, employees, representatives of non-governmental organisations and private persons received certificates of appreciation for their cooperation in better governance by the district administration.

School and college students presented colourful cultural programmes.

Superintendent of Police D. Kannan, District Revenue Officer R. Anandhi, Project Director (District Rural Development Agency) V. Kesavadasan, Sivakasi Sub-Collector Mohammed Irfan, Divisional Revenue Officers Kanagaraj (Sattur), and Marimuthu (Aruppukottai) were among those who were present.

Grama sabha meetings were held in all the 450 pachayats in Virudhunagar district on the occasion of the Republic Day.

The Collector participated in the grama sabha meeting held at Kumizhankulam near Sivakasi. The residents of the panchayat discussed the functioning of the local body and audited the expenditure incurred by it between April 1, 2025, and October 31, 2025.

They also discussed approvals to be given for various development works to be taken up under People’s Plan Campaign for the year 2026-27. The Collector highlighted various development and welfare schemes implemented in the State.
