Congress will ensure 50% representation for women and youth in 2026 elections: Satheesan

The Congress party in Kerala will ensure 50% representation for youth and women in the organisation as well as in candidate selection for the upcoming elections, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has said. He said that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had instructed the State unit to take measures to this effect.

“The implementation of steps for representation of youth and women does not mean that those from older generations will be asked to step back. The new generation should also have an opportunity. All of us came up that way. We cannot decide that no one should come after us. Women and the youth will definitely have more representation. That is the desire of the Congress national leadership. We will accept the advice and opinions of the senior leaders and also field those who can contest among them. No one will be left out,” said Mr. Satheesan.
