The Erode Corporation has appointed a contractor to operate the parking stands and collect fees from vehicles entering the newly established bus terminal at Solar.
The terminal was developed at a cost of ₹74.90 crore on 19.9 acres. It has 63 bus bays, 134 retail outlets, and adequate parking facilities. The facility was inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on November 26, 2025, and bus operations commenced on December 4, 2025. At present, only the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) Limited buses bound for southern districts and Vellakovil halt briefly at the terminal, while private bus operators continue to operate from the city bus stand.
Two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking stands have been allotted at the new terminal, and the civic body floated a tender inviting contractors to operate the facility. An auction was held in December 2025, and the highest bidder, who quoted ₹13.28 lakh for operating the parking lots and ₹8.58 lakh for collecting entry fees, was awarded the contract for a period of three years.
A Corporation official said buses would be charged ₹15 a day, while cars would be charged ₹25 a day for using the facility. Commercial vehicles entering the premises for loading and unloading goods would be charged ₹50. A board displaying the charges has been put up at the entrance of the bus stand.
