Congress member Ivan D’Souza on Monday urged the State government to resolve the persistent e-Khata server issues, which have resulted in delays in issuing property records and caused hardship to the public.
Raising the matter in the Legislative Council, Mr. D’Souza said that e-Khata certificates, which earlier took a day or two to be issued, were now taking over a week, forcing citizens to make repeated visits to civic offices.
He said the e-Khata server, which stores comprehensive property ownership data, had been frequently failing, affecting people across the State. Despite more than two months having passed, the government had not found a permanent solution, he said.
Mr. D’Souza pointed out that the Mangaluru City Corporation had earlier used a separate software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), through which e-Khatas were issued smoothly. However, after the Karnataka Municipal Data Society (KMDS) implemented a centralised system across the State to ensure uniformity, technical issues began surfacing in Mangaluru as well.
He explained that the system initially remained non-functional for about 15 days owing to server outage. Subsequently, problems arose during the transition from the old server to a new one. Further difficulties were reported when certain software modules were modified.
“Although the government has repeatedly stated that the problem will be resolved, the difficulties faced by the public continue,” he said.
