The country’s cultural conscience stands firmly with the youngsters being stripped on the streets amid the terror of a fully exposed fascist regime, writer K.R. Meera has said. She was inaugurating the three-day Thrissur Literary Fest organised by the District Library Council in Thrissur on Monday. The youths are being subjected to physical assault for standing up for the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution, she said.

District Library Council president Prof. M. Haridas presided over the function. Writer P.N. Gopikrishnan, Kerala Sahitya Akademi secretary M.P. Surendran, Literary Fest chairperson V. Murali and District Library Council secretary M. Rajesh also spoke. At the inaugural venue, Sahitya Akademi secretary M.P. Surendran released books by several writers, including C.R. Das.
