The Bagalkot Police have detained a couple running a school for differently abled children after a video clip of a differently abled boy being treated inhumanly and being beaten up went viral on social media.
The incident is said to have happened three months ago and it came to light after the video went viral on Saturday.
Consequently, the father of the boy has lodged a complaint with the police resulting in an FIR being registered.
Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal told presspersons on Saturday that they have secured the couple identified as 35-year-old Akshay and 34-year-old Anandi who are running Divya Jyoti School for Differently Abled Children in Bagalkot for questioning.
“We are also in the process of questioning the personnel who work as caretakers in the school,” he said.
He said that one of the staff members of the school, who has been reportedly removed from service, shared the video clip with the boy’s parents and they have filed the complaint now.
After the video went viral, people gathered in front of the school located in Sector 54 of Navanagar in Bagalkot and the police found it difficult to control the crowd.
