The Communist Party of India has requested the police to speed up investigation against officials involved in criminal conspiracies and corruption charges.
In a memorandum submitted to the Director General of Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police, the party said in the recent times, several officials have been caught for being involved in fraudulent activities, including on charges of encroaching temple land, taking bribe, and supplying substandard medicines to government hospitals.
Currently, the CB-CID was involved in the investigation of seizure of counterfeit drugs manufactured in illegal pharma companies in Puducherry. The involvement of officials in the case cannot be ruled out, the memorandum said.
“It is unfortunate that many heads of departments are getting involved in criminal activities. Though the police initiated action in such cases by arresting some officials, there has been an impasse in furthering the legal procedures to get the officials convicted in the court of law. Without getting influenced by political parties, the police should ensure that the corrupt officials get the maximum punishment,” the party said.
