CPI(M) flays Rangasamy for not raising voice against wrong policies of Centre

Senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) K. Balakrishnan has flayed Chief Minister and AINRC founder N. Rangasamy for not raising his voice against the wrong policies of the Central government.

Interacting with reporters after campaigning for CPI candidate A. M. Saleem in Thattanchavady bypoll on Saturday, he claimed that Mr. Rangasamy would not oppose the Union government as he was scared of possible probe by the Central agencies.

Accusing the AINRC-BJP government of not taking measures to control crimes, Mr. Balakrishnan said the recent murders were a reflection of the poor handling of law and order.  

Demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in the wake of recent allegations against him, the CPI(M) leader said the CEC has lost the trust of the political parties and the general public after the recent controversies. The CEC should be removed from the post if he was not going to resign on his own, he added.

On the sexual abuse case against Gem Granites owner R. Veeramani in Tamil Nadu, he said the party would launch a State-wide agitation if the guilty in the case were not punished. All the accused in the case should be brought to public light. In the last 20 years, no ruling government in Tamil Nadu has dared to take action against erring police officers, he alleged.
