Crime against women too declines, including rape and murder, and assault cases, while economic offences, including cheating and criminal breach of trust, see a rise
The overall crime in the State has declined by 5.5% with 16 districts reporting a fall in the number of cases and 10 showing a rise in the count.
A report on the crime data up to November 25, 2025 has been submitted to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by DGP Harish Kumar Gupta at a crime review meeting recently.
As per the data, 1,04,095 cases have been registered this year, as against 1,10,111 cases in 2024. There has been a rise in the number of economic offences, road accidents and property offences.
A rise in crime was noticed in Annamayya district (9.5%), Konaseema (8.5%), Nellore (7.8%), Guntur and Tirupati (6.5%), Sri Satya Sai (4.8%), Parvathipuram Manyam (2.7%), Kakinada (2%), East Godavari (1.5%) and Kurnool (0.7%).
Cases related to attempt to murder, housebreaking by day and theft cases increased. Detection of property offences stood at 56% and recovery 55%, according to police officials.
In all, 8,035 economic offences, including cheating and criminal breach of trust cases, were registered (6.6% rise). The economic offence cases registered in 2024 were 7,539.
Cyber crime cases dropped to 1,771 as against 2,853 in 2024. The victims lost about ₹751 crore in cyber frauds, while the police froze about ₹89 crore in banks and returned nearly ₹2.21 crore, this year.
Operation Trace
As many as 16,288 cases, including rape and murder, gang rape, cyber crime and assault on women were registered this year, which is lower than the figure for 2024 that stood at 16,913.
The cases of crime against women, however, increased in Sri Satya Sai, Nellore, Vizianagaram, Kadapa, Guntur, Annamayya, Palnadu, Parvathipuram Manyam and Tirupati districts.
On the other hand, at a law and order review held a few days ago, police officers told the Chief Minister that under ‘Operation Trace’, a special drive, 1,177 missing girls and 2,483 women were traced in the last four months.
Drug cases
As many as 6,139 accused were arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Police seized 721 vehicles, and attached properties worth about ₹9 crore belonging to the offenders. They booked 68 accused under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, police officials said.
The police detected 6,993 cases by using 347 drones and vigil has been stepped up on ganja peddling and consumption, gambling, eve-teasing and other crimes through drones.
Of the total 26,518 rowdy sheeters in A.P., 11,728 were bound over, 15 were externed and PD Act was enforced against 153 criminals.
The Andhra Pradesh police achieved significant results in combating Left Wing Extremism (LWE), with the assistance of their counterparts in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. About 58 Maoists were arrested and about 16 top cadre Naxalites were neutralized in 2025, the police said.
