Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has advised political parties and their followers to maintain decency and decorum expected in the political system and warns that any act of crime in the garb of politics will not be tolerated.
Speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed District Police Office (DPO) building in Tirupati on Friday, Mr. Naidu directly cautioned the activists of a political party for making public nuisance on a regular basis.
While appreciating the district police for cracking the whip against the redsanders smugglers, and ganja and drug peddlers, Mr. Naidu pointed out the need to maintain strict vigil in a pilgrim centre like Tirupati and look for troublemongers trying to disturb peace and order.
Mr. Naidu announced to deal rowdyism with an iron fist, and warned of strict action against certain groups “hiding behind the veil of political party” trying to make land settlements, indulge in faction politics and resort to vandalism.
Reacting to a recent social media post, where certain party activists sacrificed a goat in full public view and splashed its blood on the poster of their beloved leader, Mr. Naidu called it a loathsome behaviour.
“Such a tendency has no place in decent politics. We will also not tolerate those resorting to character assassination of political opponents through abusive posts,” he warned.
Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha (Home) and Anagani Satya Prasad (Revenue), Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, Collector S. Venkateswar, Deputy Inspector-General B. Semushi, Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu took part.
