There has been a relative dip in the crime numbers in 2025 in comparison to the corresponding period in 2024. This entailed a 14% fall in the number of murders in 2025 as compared to the same period in 2024. According to the police department, 58 murders were registered in 2024, where the number of murders fell to 50 in 2025, recording a 14% fall. Similarly, the number of attempt to murders was 42 in 2024, where it was 37 in 2025, recording a 12% fall in the numbers.
The marginal dip in the crime numbers was revealed as statistics of the district crime records bureau pans across the various other crimes. The number of thefts recorded in 2025 was 209 as opposed to the 222 cases of thefts recording a 6% fall in the crime. Similarly, the number of robberies in 2025 was 19 as opposed to the 28 cases registered in 2024. This recorded a sharp 32% dip in the crime
Accident deaths
2025 also saw a fall in the number of road accident caused casualties, with 699 road deaths, while the number of road casualties in 2024 was 727. This entailed a 4% fall in deaths from road accidents. Further, 1,22,619 people were booked for various road violations and cumulative fines of ₹1.85 crore was collected.
Over 4,436 bootlegging cases were registered and 4,451 people were arrested. These arrests also led to the seizure of 11,543 litres of illicit liquor, valued at ₹80.08 lakh. 176 two-wheelers and 65 four-wheelers were also seized from the offenders.
Contraband substance cases
Similarly, 216 cases for sale and possession of ganja were registered and 248 people were arrested. Over 348 kg of ganja worth ₹35,23,750 was seized.
Over 959 cases were booked and 949 people were arrested for sale of gutkha. The police also seized 21,977 kg of gutkha worth ₹1.52 crore.
Cyber crime cases
2025 also saw registration of 131 cyber crime cases. This entailed public loss of ₹30.91 crore, of which ₹1.22 crore was restored to the victims, and 817 mobile phones were seized.
POCSO cases
Convictions were secured in eight POCSO cases in 2025. Further, 234 cases were registered under POCSO and 263 accused were arrested.
Convictions
A total of 4,761 convictions were secured in various cases this year, according to the police. Goondas Act was slapped against 42 people involved in the sale of ganja.
