Deepavali discount sale begins at Cooptex showrooms in Dindigul, Theni

Dindigul Collector Durgamoorthi on Wednesday inaugurated Cooptex Deepavali sale at Cooptex showroom in Anna Commercial Complex in Dindigul. A sales target of ₹1.22 crore has been set for Co-optex showrooms in the district for this festival season, she said.

The Collector said to boost the sales of the handloom products, the State government has announced a 30% special discount on silk and cotton handloom varieties. A wide range of products are on sale including silk saris, cotton saris, organic saris, cotton dhotis and bedspreads.

Traditional varieties like Kancheepuram, Arani, Salem, Thirubhuvanam silk saris, soft silk and kora cotton saris from Coimbatore, Sungudi saris, silk dhotis and other handloom products from Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Chettinad, Salem, Paramakudi, Dindigul, Chinnalapatti and Aruppukottai are on sale, she said.

Last year, Cooptex achieved its sales target in Dindigul district, recording sales worth ₹1.01 crore. This year a sales target of ₹1.22 crore has been set for the district, she said.

Arrangements have been made to purchase Cooptex textile varieties through the website www.cooptex.gov.in.. The Collector urged the public to extend their cooperation and purchase handloom products, and help improve the livelihood of the weavers. Co-optex officials were also present at the event.

In Theni district, Collector R. Vaithinathan inaugurated Cooptex Deepavali sale at Cooptex showroom located near the old bus stand in Theni-Allinagaram. Sales target of ₹75.50 lakh has been set for Cooptex showrooms in the district for the festival season, he said. Last year, Cooptex achieved its sales target in the district, recording sales worth ₹61.02 lakh.
