A de-mobilisation ceremonial parade was conducted on Sunday (January 25, 2026) for the Armed Reserve personnel at the Armed Reserve Grounds in Visakhapatnam. Commissioner of Police Shankabratha Bagchi attended the programme as the chief guest and inspected the ceremonial parade.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bagchi said that the 12-day training period would be useful for physical training, yoga, lathi drill, assembling and dismantling of weapons, VIP security, access control, and road opening duties. Throughout the year, the personnel will be busy with bandobast duties and VIP visits, he added.
Keeping in view the present security scenario, he also stressed the need for personnel to gain awareness on modern technologies such as negotiation skills, CCTV surveillance systems, and drone technology.
The Commissioner said that as a preventive health measure to avoid sudden cardiac arrests among police personnel a Coronary Calcium Score Scan would be conducted next month for Civil, Armed Reserve, and Home Guard personnel. He advised personnel to stay away from bad habits such as alcohol abuse and gambling, and suggested approaching the Welfare Fund or Cooperative Societies in case of any financial difficulty.
Assuring that the Police Department would stand by its personnel round the clock for their welfare, the Commissioner expressed hope that the annual de-mobilisation 2026 programme had infused renewed enthusiasm among the force.
