Casting of postal ballots by senior citizens aged 85 years and above, and by people with over 40% disability, from their homes, was carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday for the byelection to Dharapuram (SC) Assembly Constituency
District Election Officer and District Collector Manish Narnaware inspected the voting process at a residence in Ward 6 of Dharapuram Municipality, to determine compliance with the directive of Election Commission of India, for the two categories of voters.
Of the 1,236 voters in these categories, 992 constituted senior citizens, and the remaining 244 voters were persons with the specified extent of disabilities.
Their votes cast through Form 12D were accepted by the Returning Officer.
Facilitation was carried out by 30 postal ballot teams, each consisting of an officer authorised to attest Form 13A, a polling officer, a micro observer, a police personnel, and a videographer.
