Dog menace

Residents of Ramanathapuram town are facing severe disturbance at night due to the presence of stray dogs. Peaceful sleep of residents is disturbed due to continuous barking and frequent fights among dogs.

The government should take effective measures through the local bodies to catch all dogs and let them free in the nearest reserve forests and ensure peaceful and restful nights for the residents.

Junction Chaos

The Salai Street – Agraharam Road three-way junction in Ramanathapuram town is a busy thoroughfare on all sides. To ensure smooth traffic, the police enforced one-way from this junction upto the adjoining main road junction on the north (Big Bazar Road). But in practice, ignoring the police warning exhibited on the barricade, most of the vehicles pass through this one-way stretch with utter negligence, leading to traffic jams as the road is already under encroachment on both edges by street vendors trading vegetables and fruits. Traffic police standing at the junction appear to be silent spectators. I would request the police to strictly enforce one-way and to charge the violators.

Traffic congestion crisis

Vehicles proceeding from Dindigul Road towards Palani are forced to wait in long queues every day at the traffic signal near the Mayil roundabout. During peak hours, the congestion spills over onto the Dindigul–Palani Road, completely blocking access near the north gate of the Palani Government Hospital.

As a result, ambulances carrying patients are frequently caught in the traffic bottleneck and are unable to enter the hospital premises in time. The situation is aggravated by the permanent parking of private cars and vans near the hospital gate, which further narrows the available road space. I urge the traffic authorities to install permanent iron barricades before the hospital’s north gate and strictly regulate parking in the area. Such a measure would help save precious time and lives.
