Transparency needed

Reports of alleged bribery detected recently at the registration office have caused concern among the public. Allegations that illegal gratification was sought in connection with the registration of land have raised questions about transparency and accountability in property transactions.

Such incidents may undermine public confidence in the registration process and create anxiety among people involved in buying and selling property. There is a growing expectation that strict vigilance and monitoring mechanisms be strengthened to prevent malpractice in registration offices.

The authorities concerned should ensure a fair and transparent system and take appropriate measures to curb corruption and safeguard public interest.

Eco safety

On Sirumalai Hills in Dindigul district, the nearly 8-km road stretch between Palayur and the newly inaugurated biodiversity park is in a badly damaged condition, causing hardship to visitors and motorists, particularly car users travelling to the park.

In addition, instances of people consuming alcohol along the hill route are reportedly affecting the eco-sensitive environment and posing safety risks. Such activities undermine the purpose of preserving the natural surroundings of the hill area.

The authorities concerned should repair the damaged road and strengthen monitoring to prevent unlawful activities in the environmentally sensitive zone.

Bad roads

The four-lane National Highway stretch between the Dindigul bypass road and Oddanchatram is in a poor condition, with several large potholes remaining unattended for months. The damaged stretch makes driving difficult and poses a safety risk to motorists on this busy route.

The National Highways Authority of India should take immediate steps to repair the road and ensure safe and smooth traffic movement.
