Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) propaganda and policy general secretary K.G. Arunraj on Wednesday alleged that while DMK public events face no police restrictions, TVK meetings are subjected to numerous conditions.
“Tamil Nadu police are trying to prevent our public meeting by imposing more than 50 conditions, but we will proceed regardless,” Arunraj said.
He said the party has finalised all arrangements for its Erode public meeting, which is scheduled to be held on December 18, 2025 (Thursday) under the supervision of Chief Coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan, with party president Vijay set to speak. Arunraj added that there will be no QR code verification and the meeting will be open to all members of the public.
When asked if senior leaders would join the meeting, he said official announcements will be made at the appropriate time.
On the Thirupparankundram issue, Arunraj said Tamil Nadu has a tradition of communal harmony, citing examples such as the acceptance of Alagar processions during the Chithirai festival in Madurai by Muslim communities. He accused the BJP and DMK of politicising the issue.
Responding to criticism that party president Vijay has not held a press briefing, Arunraj said even the ruling party had not arranged one and insisted that they should hold theirs first.
