Land acquisition under way for 11 major industries, says Nellore Collector

Collector Himanshu Shukla said that the land acquisition has been under way for 11 major industries in SPSR Nellore district. According to Collector, the authorities have been acquiring land in the district for six companies, while they are identifying lands for the remaining five.

In an interaction with the media, he said, “Along with solving the problems in the district, we are also working in a planned manner for its development. I have been focusing mainly on the land acquisition process for setting up new industries. My main intention is to industrialise the western region on par with the eastern region of the district.”

“Discussions are under way with several industrialists to establish units in Atmakur and Udayagiri areas as well. The steps have been taken to set up some industries in Jaladanki and Duttalur mandals also. Of 6,000 acres of land required for BPCL oil refinery project, nearly 3,200 acres have been acquired, while the rest will be acquired soon,” the Collector said.

“If everything goes well, the foundation stone for BPCL project will be laid in February 2027,” he said, adding that the land acquisition process for Indosol Solar Private Limited was on full swing. The district administration is also focussing on the creation of direct and indirect job opportunities through industrial development in the respective areas.

Meanwhile, the State Cabinet had recently approved the allotment of land to IFFCO Kisan SEZ, which had been pending for the past 30 years. Of the total 2,772 acres, IFFCO will develop 1,600 acres, while the government will develop 120 acres, the Collector informed. He further said that efforts will be made to establish industries by handing over Kovur Sugar Factory to the APIIC.

“The State government aims to provide satisfactory compensation to farmers and employees and establish environmentally friendly industries in the area. Kavali is likely to be developed as an industrial township with the establishment of Ramayapatnam Port, Indosol Solar and BPCL industries. The companies are expected to start operations in the next two years,” Mr. Shukla said.
