A woman village panchayat president has been dismissed from the post for causing ₹33 lakh loss to the government.
Following charges that president of Kalappakulam village panchayat under Sankarankovil union in the district V. Sivasankari of DMK had caused a loss of ₹33 lakh to the government, inquiry was ordered.
The inquiry with the ward members and other officials revealed that Sivasankari, who is Tenkasi district’s DMK women’s wing organiser, had caused a loss of ₹33.33 lakh to the government.
Hence, District Collector Ranjeet Singh dismissed her from the post on last Tuesday (July 28), the sources said.
