Anand, 28, who allegedly murdered his 23-year-old wife Vidya at a lodge in Doddaballapur on September 15, was found dead in a lake in his hometown, Madugere village in Gauribidanur taluk, on Saturday (September 19, 2026).

According to the police, Anand had allegedly strangled Vidya to death using an ID-card lanyard at the lodge before fleeing the scene. The murder came to light on September 16, following which police launched a search for him.

Anand’s body was subsequently found in a highly decomposed condition in the lake in Madugere village, within the jurisdiction of Gauribidanur Rural Police Station.

Police suspect that Anand left his motorcycle near the lake, consumed alcohol, and later he was found dead. An alcohol bottle and a cigarette packet were found at the base of the tree.

Police also recovered two mobile phones—from Anand’s pocket—his own and Vidya’s.

The exact circumstances leading to Anand’s death are being investigated. A case has been registered at the Gauribidanur Rural Police Station.
