Durai Vaiko writes to External Affairs Minister seeking evacuation of 700 stranded fishermen in Iran

MDMK MP Durai Vaiko has appealed to the Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to immediately help evacuate 700 stranded fishermen in Iran.

In a letter to the Union Minister, he had said that fishermen from Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram and Cuddalore districts, who had travelled on valid work visas, were stranded in coastal regions such as Kish Island, Bandar Abbas and Asaluyeh.

With fishing activities halted, the fishermen were facing severe hardships. Food and essential supplies were in short supply and living under constant fear due to the prevailing situation had led to mental agony for their families.
