General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR) Parmeshwar Funkwal on Monday (December 29, 2025) conducted an extensive inspection of various railway units in Visakhapatnam to review ongoing development initiatives, maintenance systems, safety measures, productivity levels, and future infrastructure plans.
He was accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Lalit Bohra and other senior officials. During the inspection, the General Manager reviewed the progress of key projects, examined operational challenges, and explored opportunities to further enhance passenger amenities.
Mr. Parmeshwar Funkwal inspected the construction of the new Zonal Office building of South Coast Railway (SCoR) at Mudasarlova, in the city, and held detailed discussions with Chief Administrative Officer Ankush Gupta and Senior Construction Organisation officials, regarding project progress, design objectives, and timelines.
The General Manager later inspected the Diesel Loco Shed (DLS), Visakhapatnam, where he interacted with Siemens Locos technical teams and reviewed ongoing project works, future expansion plans, and maintenance activities. Siemens officials also made a brief presentation highlighting the scope of ongoing initiatives at the shed.
In the afternoon, Mr. Parmeshwar Funkwal visited the Wagon Workshop at Vadlapudi, in the city, where he reviewed maintenance operations, infrastructure facilities, and development works underway. The Chief Project Manager S.K. Senapati briefed him on the workshop’s operational capabilities, maintenance strategies, and upcoming infrastructure upgrades.
The General Manager also inspected the circulating area at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, where several new passenger-centric facilities are under construction. He reviewed proposals for additional initiatives and later chaired a meeting with Divisional Officials to assess the progress of developmental projects across the Division, including works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Further, Mr. Parmeshwar Funkwal participated as the chief guest at the valedictory function of the 4th State Camp and Rally of Bharat Scouts and Guides, organised by Waltair Division at Aranya—the camping arena in the city. He appreciated the arrangements made for the five-day event, which witnessed participation of more than 400 cadets and officials from across East Coast Railway. He also visited various activity zones, gate displays, and exhibition stalls, and appreciated the enthusiasm and performance of the participating teams.
