Enraged over BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s remarks that he felt like hitting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy with footwear, senior Congress leaders hit out at Mr. Rama Rao accusing him of promoting abusive political culture and making irresponsible remarks.
Government Whip Adi Srinivas said Mr. Rama Rao had ‘destroyed democratic values over the past decade’ and introduced abusive language into public discourse. He termed Mr. Rama Rao’s comments against the Chief Minister as shameful and clarified that the Chief Minister had not made any remarks against people of Andhra Pradesh like Mr. K Chandrashekar Rao and Mr. Rama Rao did earlier.
He alleged that Mr. Rama Rao had remained silent on critical issues such as the diversion of water through the Pothireddypadu project and accused the BRS leadership of looting Telangana.
Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy also hit out at Mr. Rama Rao, accusing the BRS leadership of corruption, misgovernance and encroachments during its rule. He said the collapse of the Medigadda barrage pillars in the Kaleshwaram project had exposed corruption.
The MP asserted that Mr. Revanth Reddy rose through electoral merit, while Mr. Rama Rao entered politics through family privilege. He recalled BRS’s defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections and said the party had been wiped out in the 2024 Parliamentary polls, warning that the public would deliver similar verdicts in future elections as well.
He demanded that Mr. Rama Rao bring Mr. Chandrashekar Rao to the Assembly, or else assume the role of Leader of the Opposition himself and offer constructive suggestions to the government.
Congress MLC Balmur Venkat issued a strong warning to Mr. Rama Rao, stating that any further inappropriate remarks against the Chief Minister would not be tolerated. He accused Mr. Rama Rao of arrogance despite repeated electoral setbacks and said the people of Telangana would teach the BRS leadership a fitting lesson at the appropriate time. Congress MLA Medipally Satyam and Fisheries Congress Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar too warned Mr. Rama Rao not to resort to abuses.
