AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has received the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee National Award for extending electricity supply to tribal habitations under its purview.
Public relations officer G.S.S.S Vasu received the award on behalf of the company at the 47th All India Public Relations conference organised by the Public Relations Society of India in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. On Thursday Mr. Vasu handed over the award to APEPDCL CMD I. Prudhvitej.
Mr. Prudhvitej congratulated and lauded the efforts of staff and stakeholders in delivering electricity to the remote communities.
Mr. Vasu said that under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan programme, which aims to provide basic amenities to PVTG tribal habitations lacking electricity, the EPDCL transported necessary electrical poles, transformers, and other equipment to remote tribal areas lacking electricity networks, roads, and transport facilities. Free electricity connections were provided to nearly 23,000 tribal families.
