18 kg of ganja seized from express train

The Government Railway Police seized 18 kg of ganja from Guruvayoor Express Train on Wednesday night.

Following information that ganja was being smuggled in the Chennai – Guruvayoor Express Train, the police conducted a surprise check in the train when it reached Tirunelveli Railway Junction on Wednesday night. As the police team entered the unreserved coach, they found three persons travelling with bags containing 18 kg of ganja.

After picking them up for interrogation, the police seized the narcotic substance. During investigation, the trio was identified as R. Mithun Mandal, M. Pradeep Mandal and Ritu Mandal, all from Jharkhand. They told the police that they were taking the ganja.

Further investigations are on to identify the trio’s customer in Thiruvananthapuram.
