Ahead of the New Year 2026 celebrations in Mysuru, the Excise Department carried out precautionary inspections here on December 31.
Excise officers and staff of all ranges of Mysuru urban district carried out raids in various parts of the city, including Haleem Nagar, Saibaba Colony, Abdul Kalam Nagar, Vande Mataram Colony 1 and 2, Yellamma Colony and Belavatta village.
The patrols, raids and meetings were conducted in view of the possible illegal excise activities and sale, transportation or possession of narcotic substances during the New Year 2026 celebrations. “During the raids, no excise violations or narcotic substances were found at any of the locations,” said a press statement issued by the Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Mysuru Sub-Division.
However, residents were informed that strict action will be taken by the Excise Department if any violations or activities related to sale, transportation, consumption, or possession of narcotic substances were found in their localities.
Awareness was also created regarding narcotic substances, excise violations and the legal penalties involved. Residents were also instructed to immediately inform the Excise Department if any violations or narcotic-related activities were noticed.
The exercise was carried out under the supervision of Vivek G., Excise Superintendent, Mysuru, and H.K. Ramesh, Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Mysuru.
