Over 51,400 students across 572 schools will be covered under the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme in Krishnagiri. The scheme was extended to cover students studying in classes VI to VIII across schools. On Tuesday (September 22, 2026), with the State-wide inauguration of the extended scheme, Krishnagiri Collector C. Dinesh Kumar launched the expansion at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School.
Students were served venpongal, sweet pongal and sambar marking the expansion. According to the administration, under the scheme, students will be served Pongal on Mondays and Wednesdays; Rava Upma on Tuesdays, Semiya Upma on Thursdays and Wheat upma on Fridays.
In Dharmapuri, 77,087 students from 1,352 government and government-aided schools will be covered under the expanded scheme.
