Former Vice Chancellor of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University and director of Valmiki Research Center of Ramanarayanam temple Dr. Hanumanthu Lajapathirai said that school curriculum needs to be updated and include aspects of the Indian Knowledge System. Lessons related to indigenous wisdom, heritage, culture, governance, philosophy, environmental practices, traditional medicine and others need to be included in the school education.
He was speaking at the two day awareness programme on ‘’Relevance of Valmiki Ramayanam for the present society-Indian Knowledge System-National Education Policy-2020’ organised at the Government Degree College in Vizianagaram on Thursday.
Principal of the College K. Rekha, Lecturer of Telugu M. Rama Geeta Devi thanked the representatives of the Ramanarayam temple for conducting essay competitions for degree students to raise awareness about the Ramayana and dharma followed by Lord Rama till January 2, 2026.
