Kozhikode: A 58-year-old fisherman was killed after a broken pulley fell on his head during deep-sea fishing off the Vadakara coast early on Sunday (December 21). The victim was identified as Vamanan, a resident of Puthiyanirathu near Elathur. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on a fishing boat named Jinaraj.
The police said the overhead pulley fell when the fisherman attempted to release a net that had become entangled with it. He was declared dead at a private hospital in Vadakara, police added.
