The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), along with Langar Houz police, arrested five persons on Saturday (December 13) in connection with an interstate drug supply racket and seized hash oil and ganja valued at ₹70 lakh.
Those arrested were identified as Paul Khila, 33, a labourer from Malkangiri district in Odisha, Krushna Jalla, 31, a mason from Koraput district in Odisha, and Vykunta Rao alias Balu, 33, a peddler residing in Madhapur and originally from Srikakulam district.
Two delivery agents, Balaji, 42, a Rapido driver from Malkajgiri, and Chaitanya, 17, a student from Srikakulam district, were also taken into custody, said an officer from the H-NEW.
“The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted on credible information. We seized five kg hash oil, five kg ganja, a scooter, mobile phones, cash and packing material, including a weighing machine and containers,” the officer added.
Investigators said Vykunta Rao had been procuring hash oil and marijuana from suppliers in Odisha at low cost and selling them in small quantities across Hyderabad and Cyberabad through delivery agents. He is said to have used virtual phone numbers to avoid identification. Police said further investigation is underway to trace other links in the network.
