Development projects valued at ₹2.57 crore have been sanctioned for the upgradation of five healthcare centres in the Mavelikara parliamentary constituency. Funded through the Central Finance Commission and the National Health Mission (NHM), these initiatives are designed to strengthen public health infrastructure and expand access to quality medical services in Chunakkara, Chennithala, Champakulam, Edathua, and Thakazhi, said Kodikunnil Suresh MP.
Under the Central Finance Commission fund, a development project worth ₹55.50 lakh is being implemented for the Chunakkara Community Health Centre. An identical amount from the same fund has also been allocated for the development of the Chennithala Family Health Centre. Additionally, ₹55.50 lakh each has been sanctioned for the development of the Pullangadi Janakeeya Arogya Kendra under the Champakulam CHC and the Koduppunna Janakeeya Arogya Kendra under the Edathua CHC, utilising Central Finance Commission grants.
Furthermore, a project worth ₹35 lakh is being implemented through the National Health Mission for the development of the Thakazhi FHC and the Padaharam Janakeeya Arogya Kendra. These developments are aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure within the constituency and providing advanced medical facilities to people in rural areas. Authorities expect that the modernisation and expansion of these health centres will significantly enhance the quality of healthcare services at the grassroots level.
