Former MLA alleges Jagan regime meted out injustice to Rayalaseema

Senior leader and former MLA Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that the previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regime meted out injustice to the Rayalaseema region. He also challenged the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders to a debate on the development achieved in the region during the TDP and YSRCP regimes, at the Konda Reddy Burju in Kurnool, on Wednesday.

Mr. Rajasekhar Reddy addressed the media a day before the YSRCP meeting at Jupadu Bungalow to highlight the TDP government’s alleged injustice toward Rayalaseema. He credited party founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao’s vision for launching the Telugu Ganga, GNSS, and HNSS projects, which secured the region’s water supply. “The previous YSRCP government did not take forward the pending irrigation projects during its five-year tenure,” he alleged.

The former MLA said he took up several agitations to highlight the drought conditions and lack of job opportunities in the region and succeeded in taking the backwardness of the region to the notice of the Central and State governments. “At a time when the problems of Rayalaseema where about to come to an end, the YSRCP government betrayed the region by diverting water to reservoirs in Nellore under the name of Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS),” Mr. Rajasekhar Reddy alleged.

The senior leader further claimed that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the then Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao tried to loot public money in the name of RLIS. “The RLIS was halted during Jagan’s rule only because it did not have the necessary permissions. The YSRCP is now throwing the blame on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.

Mr. Rajasekhar Reddy also alleged that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government diverted water from SRBC and Telugu Ganga main canals from the Banakacherla complex to Nellore district for five years.
