Four persons, including a woman, were arrested in two separate cases involving the seizure of 20.7 grams of suspected MDMA in Kozhikode on Saturday (October 10, 2026) night.
In the first case, the Kunnamangalam police arrested V.M. Afnas, 27, of Nochad in Perambra, and Rinsha Fathima, 23, of Edathanattukara in Palakkad district, and seized 11.90 grams of the suspected drug allegedly kept for sale.
According to the police, the accused were travelling in a speeding car that failed to stop when signalled by officers during a vehicle check at Kattangal Junction. The police pursued the car and intercepted it near the National Institute of Technology-Calicut. The vehicle was also taken into custody.
The police found that the duo had been selling drugs targeting young people and students in the Kunnamangalam areas. Afnas has around 11 cases registered against him, including those relating to housebreaking and drug sales, while Fathima has three cases, including those relating to drug sales and consumption, the police said.
In the second case, Marad police arrested T.T. Shefil, 27, of Arakkinar, and Mohammed Nishad, 33, of Naduvattam in Beypore, and seized 8.8 grams of suspected MDMA allegedly intended for sale.
The arrests followed a patrol in the station limit, where the two men were sitting in a car parked in an unoccupied plot. They allegedly attempted to drive away on noticing the police, who stopped the vehicle and recovered the drug during a search.
