Four individuals, including a revenue inspector, were suspended from service in connection with the printing of fake receipts and collection of fees at the two-wheeler parking lot of the Ramanathapuram Municipality New Bus Stand.
Based on information received about fees fraudulently collected using fake receipts at the two-wheeler parking area in the Ramanathapuram Municipality New Bus Stand, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials conducted a surprise raid recently. During the raid, they seized 19 fake receipt books, each valued at ₹20, and unaccounted cash amounting to ₹12,750.
During the investigation, it was revealed that 52 fake receipt books, containing 100 receipts each and closely resembling official government receipts, were printed at a printing press in Ramanathapuram at a cost of ₹1.04 lakh.
On September 23, the DVAC police arrested and remanded five individuals — municipal revenue inspector Ramesh, revenue assistants Marimuthu and Rishi Kesavan, sanitary supervisor Anandan, and printing press owner Joseph — in connection with printing fake receipts and collecting fees.
Meanwhile, municipal commissioner (in-charge) Kumaran issued orders suspending four individuals from service: revenue inspector Ramesh, revenue assistants Marimuthu and Rishi Kesavan, and sanitary supervisor Anandan.
