The government has ordered the speedy examination and disposal of pending applications under the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) Act, including cases relating to partially regularised and unregularised colonies, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Sunday.
The Minister said that the decision would provide relief to applicants whose ULC-related cases had remained pending for several decades, causing difficulties in establishing rights over land and undertaking transactions.
He said the government had issued Memo No. 48062/ULC/A1/2026-1 on Sunday directing officials to examine and dispose of pending ULC applications received under G.O. Nos. 455, 456, 747 and 92. Eligible cases should be regularised after completing all procedures prescribed under the rules, he said.
The Minister said that the previous BRS government had issued an order in 2016 to address pending ULC applications, but it was not implemented, resulting in thousands of applications remaining unresolved for years.
The latest decision was part of the governmentâs efforts to address issues linked to Section 22A of the Registration Act, following an assurance given by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the Legislative Assembly on September 16 to resolve 10 to 12 major issues through a fast-track mechanism, the Minister said.
The government had already constituted a high-level committee on 22A-related issues and subsequently issued memoranda in accordance with G.O. 118 and G.O. 76, he said. It had also permitted registration of houses, plots and flats falling under Section 22A where they had valid approvals from the GHMC, HMDA, DTCP or municipalities.
The Minister said the latest orders on ULC applications constituted another step towards resolving long-pending land-related issues.
âFreeing people from problems that have remained pending for decades and resolving every land-related issue in accordance with the law and rules is the primary objective of the government,â Mr. Srinivas Reddy said.
