Four men allegedly robbed a man of ₹8.52 lakh in Maninalkuru Mulkaje, off the Kakkepadavu-Panemangaluru road, near Bantwal, on Thursday.
The Bantwal Rural police said Mayyadi, 40, the employee of a hardware and cement shop at Kannur in Mangaluru, was riding his motorcycle to collect payments from clients to whom the shop had delivered cement and hardware products.
As he was riding from Kakkepadavu to Panemagaluru, four persons, on two motorycles, over took him and blocked his way at Mulkaje. Holding machetes, the four allegedly snatched the bag reportedly containing ₹8.52 lakh cash from Mayyadi and fled the spot. The incident took place around 1 p.m.
The police said special teams have been formed to trace the robbers.
