Days after announcing the appointment of new Director (Life Sciences), Telangana government on Friday said incumbent Shakthi M. Nagappan will continue in his current role till March 2026.
“Recognising the need for continuity, institutional stability and sustained momentum, Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu requested Mr. Nagappan to continue in his current role until the end of March 2026,” the Minister’s office said. Post March, Mr. Nagappan will continue to support the Minister as an Advisor in an honorary capacity, in view of his pivotal role in shaping Telangana’s Life Sciences ecosystem and strengthening its national and global engagements. The development comes in the wake of the Minister undertaking a review of the activities of Telangana Life Sciences and announcing a structured leadership transition.
The transition has been necessitated following the request of Mr. Nagappan, who is besides being Director (Life Sciences) is also CEO of Telangana Lifesciences Foundation to step down to pursue entrepreneurial initiatives. During the transition period, Mr. Sarvesh Singh, who was recently announced as the new Director (Life Sciences), will work closely with Mr. Nagappan to facilitate comprehensive knowledge transfer. On completion of the transition phase, Mr. Singh will assume charge as Director (Lifesciences).
The Minister acknowledged Mr. Nagappan’s significant contributions in positioning Telangana as a leading global life sciences hub and noted that he will continue to be associated with the sector’s growth, Mr. Sridhar Babu’s office said.
