INDIA bloc leaders of the Congress, CPI(M), CPI and other parties staged a protest in Srikakulam on Thursday (October 8, 2026) against the alleged mass deletion of names from voters’ lists.

Former Union Minister Killi Kruparani, Srikakulam District Congress Committee president Sanapala Annaji Rao, CPI(M) district secretary D. Govinda Rao and others wore black clothes and badges, demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They burnt an effigy of Mr. Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that he had become a puppet in the hands of the NDA parties.

Ms. Kruparani said the Delhi police had misbehaved with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other MPs during their protest on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mr. Annaji Rao said thousands of migrant labourers had lost their votes in the “so-called” Special Intensive Revision taken up by the Election Commission.

Senior Congress leaders Duvvada Jeeviteswara Rao, Killi Rammohana Rao, Pedada Parameswara Rao, Ambati Krishna Rao, Mantri Narasimha Murthy and others took part in the protest.
