Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that India has reached a new dimension by linking security and economic growth with employment.
He was speaking at the Rozgar Mela event at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) training centre in Iluppaikudi here on Saturday. During the ceremony, he distributed appointment orders to those selected for Union Government jobs across various departments.
Mr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said: “Securing a government job in this era is both challenging and a matter of pride. Since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, the recruitment process has been made transparent and simple.”
Eleven years ago, India, which was economically lagging, has now emerged as the fourth largest economy in the world. It would soon capture the third place, he added.
“It was made possible only through systematic policies such as reforming old labour laws and providing greater encouragement to the private sector. The Union Government gives importance to the industrial development sector in states like Tamil Nadu. Through schemes like Production Linked Incentives (PLI), investments have been attracted and employment opportunities have increased. The Union Government has provided ₹11 lakh crore to Tamil Nadu over the last 11 years,” he noted.
In the defence sector, the production of defence equipment, which was ₹46,000 crore in 2014, has now risen to ₹1.27 lakh crore, he stated.
Similarly, defence exports, which stood at ₹680 crore, have increased to ₹23,000 crore. India now exports defence equipment to more than a hundred countries. The defence budget has risen from ₹2.5 lakh crore to ₹6.81 lakh crore, Mr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said.
“Furthermore, priority is being given to national security. Terrorist incidents in areas like Jammu and Kashmir have decreased. Terrorist incidents, which were 228 in 2018, have dropped to 28,” he added.
“India has reached a new dimension by linking security and economic growth with employment. Our goal is to transform India into a developed nation in all aspects by 2047,” he noted.
Chief Postmaster General Mariamma Thomas, Southern Region Postmaster General Nirmala Devi, among others were present during the event.
