IIndia Post has significantly expanded its digital services, financial inclusion initiatives and last-mile delivery network across Telangana, serving nearly 20 lakh Cheyutha pension beneficiaries every month and strengthening citizen-centric services through technological innovations.
Addressing a press conference at Dak Sadan in Hyderabad on World Post Day observed on Friday (October 9, 2026), Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) D.S.V.R. Murthy said the Department of Posts is observing National Postal Week from October 9 to 15 under the theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities.” He said the theme reflects India Post’s transformation into a modern, technology-enabled organisation while retaining its extensive physical presence.
Mr. Murthy said Telangana Circle operates through 36 Head Post Offices, 759 Sub Post Offices and 5,424 Branch Post Offices, supported by 6,514 departmental employees and 10,623 Gramin Dak Sevaks. He noted that across 17 Rozgar Mela phases, the Department issued 1.86 lakh appointment and engagement orders nationwide, including 1,272 appointments in the State.
Highlighting digital initiatives, he said the rollout of the indigenous APT 2.0 platform and DIGIPIN, a geo-coded digital address system developed with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad and NRSC-ISRO, has enhanced service delivery. The Door Step Service application enables real-time tracking, while 24-Hour and 48-Hour Speed Post services launched in Hyderabad have handled over 1.33 lakh articles.
The CPMG said Telangana’s 14 Passport Seva Kendras facilitated over 1.66 lakh passport transactions in 2025-26, while 263 Aadhaar centres recorded 4.75 lakh transactions. Telangana Circle also maintains 1.07 crore Post Office Savings Bank accounts and aims to bring 25% of the rural population under financial inclusion by 2026-27.
During 2025-26, the Circle sold 71,233 Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance policies and earned revenue of ₹596.71 crore.
