A video of three youngsters performing bike stunts on the road and posting them on Instagram led the Attapur police to track down and arrest the trio, and seize their motorcycles.
The three, aged between 19 and 24, were seen riding Honda Dio scooters without registration number plates near Pillar No. 257 in Attapur on the night of October 6.
Police said the riders were speeding and performing dangerous stunts on the road, putting other commuters at risk. Videos of the stunts were subsequently uploaded on Instagram.
During routine patrolling, police came across the video and initiated an investigation based on a complaint lodged by the Attapur patrol car in-charge. The three riders were subsequently identified and arrested.
They were identified as Md. Mohinuddin alias Mohin, 24, a driver from Kachiguda, Mohammed Rizwan, 21, from Yakutpura, and Tohid, 19, from Kachiguda.
A case was registered under Sections 281, 125 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 180, 181, 184, 189 and 192 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Following the arrests, Attapur police warned against stunt riding, speed racing, wrong-side driving and riding vehicles without registration plates on public roads and flyovers, including areas surrounding Attapur and the P.V.N.R. Expressway.
Police said CCTV footage and social media posts would also be monitored to identify riders engaging in such activities.
Parents were advised not to hand over vehicles to minors or those without valid driving licences and to keep track of social media-driven stunt riding. Police warned that parents could also face legal action if they provided vehicles to children without licences.
