The JanAI Summit, an official India AI pre-summit event, was held at the MYRA School of Business on January 31, with a strong emphasis on deploying AI for economic development and social good, particularly in rural India.
The event, organised by Bherunda Foundation and Cyberverse Foundation in association with HeadHeldHigh, along with Vigyan Labs and other partner institutions, was inaugurated by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mysuru MP.
In his address, the MP said JanAI is not just an initiative but a statement of intent for India’s AI future. “Today, India is at a defining moment in its technological journey. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, India has consistently demonstrated that technology, when guided by purpose, can become a powerful instrument of inclusion,” he said.
The MP said the JanAI initiative reflected the principles of ‘Gram Swaraj, Swadeshi’ innovation and ‘AI for All’, describing it as a modern-day “digital swadeshi movement”. “Much like Charaka symbolised self-reliance in an earlier era, JanAI symbolises an AI ecosystem built in rural India, for rural India and by rural India,” Mr. Wadiyar said.
The MP also stated that an ‘AI-first village’ is not defined by advanced infrastructure alone but by practical AI-powered services embedded into everyday life. “I look forward to Mysuru emerging as a lighthouse for community-led, AI-driven development in India. AI must empower every Indian not just the privileged few,” he said.
M.L. Kantharaj Urs, director, Cyberverse Foundation and Srinivas Varadarajan, founder and CEO of Vigyan Labs, among others, were present.
