Food Safety personnel have accused a KFC outlet in the city of not stocking chicken in the correct manner in the cold storage section.
The personnel, led by the District Food Safety Officer Praveen, raided the outlet in City Centre Mall, off K.S. Rao Road, on Saturday, following a complaint accusing the outlet of selling a stale food product.
As per information provided by the Office of Health Minister U.T. Khader, the consumer complained to the Minister that the Chicken Peri Peri Legs purchased online from the outlet were stale and of bad taste. On the direction of Mr. Khader, the Food Safety Officer and other personnel raided the outlet on Saturday.
As the personnel entered the cold storage area, there was a foul smell. Different types of chicken, including chicken used for ready-to-make dishes, were stocked in the cold storage area. The personnel took samples of the chicken and arranged to send them to the government laboratory in Mysuru. The KFC outlet personnel were directed to clear the chicken stock and clean the cold storage area.
A notice was issued to the outlet governing personnel under the Food Safety and Standards Act, asking them to appear on Monday, August 17, before Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Raju, the designated district officer adjudicating cases investigated by the Food Safety personnel.
